Because I’m frazzled lately trying to “do it all” — this list is for me. If you happen to be in the same boat, I hope these ideas serve you. These are tips that I’ve picked up along the way or made up myself that can shift energy in a pinch.
1.) Declare a “Time In.” Alone or with your tots: take three, exaggerated deep breaths, followed by a long, hearty, “om”. Often chanted at the beginning or end of yoga, om (sanskrit) is believed to be the spoken essence of the universe, representing the union of mind, body, and spirit, the evocation of spiritual power and the presence of the absolute.
2.) Ask the questions: What is perfect about this moment? What am I learning? How can I make this fun?
3.) Practice conscious language and focus on “I can, I will, I am” – fill in the blank. Paying attention to your inner or spoken language is really powerful. What you think and say creates your reality, bringing you what you desire or fear.
4.) Get outside. Walk. Run. Lie down in your front yard and soak up the clouds. Whatever sounds most appealing at the time and notice all the little details of nature.
And, my personal favorite for its ability to instantly transform a bad mood, (yet I rarely remember to do it):
5.) Shake your ass. Seriously. With your favorite music or without. No matter. It’s impossible to stay angry or frazzled while shaking your ass.
It’s so easy to get stuck in a feeling and let it spiral. It’s taken me a long time to really get that what I do with a feeling is 100% my choice.
What I hope to foster in my little family is the acknowledgment of all feelings — good or bad — and the healthy expression and movement of frustration and anger, in particular.
Peace out.
excellent list ~ taping to forehead.
