What I believe more than anything else about parenting is that whatever works best for your family is what’s best for your family. Truly, “If Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”
On the Attachment Mama site, you will find information about breastfeeding, co-sleeping, baby-wearing, empathetic parenting and — a subject oft forgotten when diving into Attachment Parenting (AP) — self care! The latter subject is one that I personally shelved for my first three years of motherhood because I thought it was necessary in order to meet my babies’ needs. I continue to explore ways to attend to better care for myself while ensuring the well-being of my children.
I will share my trials and triumphs as an AP mama and occasionally shake things up a bit and let the muse dictate a subject that may have nothing at all to do with parenting. You can also find musings from me on the Attachment Parenting International blog, API Speaks.
About me? I am happily married to one of the world’s best Dads. I feel so fortunate to have him as my partner in life. I helped him raise my step-daughter through her teenage years and we have two more daughters together, ages almost 4 and almost 2. Each sweet girl has enriched my life in ways so deep I find hard to put it into words. Ah Motherhood.
My working background? I’ve spent the majority of my career working as a professional story-teller in the business world. In that world they call it Marketing Communications and Public Relations. Most of the last three years I’ve kept my consulting work to a minimum to focus on my babies which has been the most meaningful, challenging and rewarding job I’ve had to date.
Set-backs to my husbands business during the Great Heinous Recession have required that I let go of my very part-time “WAHM” title and go back to work full-time. I’m now maintaining my consulting business and Attachment Mama in the evenings and weekends. It’s a lot. And it’s all good and part of our family’s path for the time being.
Wishing everyone love, peace and happiness in their own parenting journeys!
